What if...

Now that we're adjusted to fire house life I want to get to know more of the wives and grow my circle of friends.  But I feel like being in a group (like the guys) you really just stick with the group and that's it, accept for holiday gatherings and such.  I want to squish the clicky side of it and grow a wonderful group of friends!

But would they be receptive? I'm not just talking Marblehead, I'm thinking Marblehead, Salem, Lynn, Beverly, Danvers -- the entire North Shore!

My neighbor(s) (whom I love dearly) had his Mother over and she was commenting on how crafty I was and such (Thank you!).  We got into conversation about this, I think.  We talked about a lot yesterday! What if I started a group for 'North Shore Fire Wives'?  Our husbands, boyfriends, fiance's risk their lives day in and day out for the people of their towns.  Sometimes the wives get forgotten about.  Especially if we have children.

When my husband graduated MFA in December, there was a huge fire in Peabody and a firefighter died.  While my husband got to go to the funeral as a brother to this fellow fireman, I was at home watching the funeral, and trying to explain to my son (whose 4, keep in mind...) what was happening.  Jacob knows that Daddy goes to work to keep people safe, but he doesn't understand the danger behind it.  >this is why I don't have a scanner!<  The amount of love and support that was there for this family was unreal.  It was SO moving.  It was wonderful to see so many people get together for ONE person.  I heard the funeral for the Worcester 6 was amazing. I'm proud to be a part of such a large family.

Maybe if we created a support group for one another -- it would be a good thing!

I know that I'm new in this whole 'Fire Wife' adventure, but sometimes I don't understand everything that goes on.  Luckily I'm part of a wonderful group of wives, mothers, and friends who have welcomed me with open arms.  Our kids are all friends, we plan nights to get together and have dinner, movie's and play.  Sometimes things don't get brought home from the guys and we talk about them between the ladies and I now understand more.

That being said... I'm going to do it! Tell your friends!
